I have 2 females and 1 male stalsbergi that get along perfectly. The females both show spawning behavior with the male, and have now each laid eggs a few times.

the bad news is that the male has not fertilized the eggs.
It’s like a dream scenario where except the male is not doing his part.

anyone ever experience anything like this?

im wondering if taking a female out will help? Or maybe they are just younger? They are about 4-5 inches and male is displaying a nuchal hump

I don’t know why it is not working out. I honestly believe you may have better long term success without the babies. Unless you’re trying to sell them I wouldn’t stress about it.

The 3 females has crossed my mind too, but the one I’m assuming male looks really different. I’ll try to get some pics but these guys are master hiders

3 females?
This (above) is very reasonable.
The one you think is male because of looks, may just be the most dominant female.
If you could post pics of all 3, it might help.
I have had 2 females spawn together a few times.
There is an instinctual need to get rid of developing eggs, and if they don't, becoming egg bound, can kill them.

So no one thinks it could just be the two females throwing the male off and causing him to not want to spawn?
I now have the two females sitting on eggs a foot away from each other with the male sitting in the middle lol

Great news!
One of the two batches of eggs were fertilized!

I just couldn’t get a good look at that batch until they hatched.

the other batch is unfertilized but im
Guessing that may be normal for trios?
