Can anyone here really house a 7 foot + giant??.... Maybe the tropical gars are the better choice
I'm sure anyone dedicated enough could keep one to 7 foot, seeing as it takes 15 years..

Do those people exist on here in general? I'm not sure about that.. but I do know for a fact The author of this thread is one very dedicated gar keeper and one I do not question much when he says "I'm looking for real Atractosteus spatula"

I am currently keeping a 6-7 foot alligator gar. Along with one about 5 feet and a bunch more. Though I am cheating because I work at a public aquarium. Probably not the answer you were looking for.

The alligator gars definitely have a wider snout with more prominent teeth. I've had 5 gars in my time and the Alligator was definitely the coolest and they wreak the most havoc because of their unstoppable appetite.

The following are links to some gar videos of my old Alligator. Excuse the sound, I would turn it down a little. I had to get a new net when I got rid of him around 19" long. Couldn't put a bigger tank on the 2nd floor apt. :irked:

Be prepared if that's a true alligator gar... mine was 6 inches when I got him. He grew over an inch per month.
