Sorry, I've been out to sea for the last week and just hopped on because one of my angels is spawning. New guys are doing well. Very well actually. Nipped fins are growing back and I've got them eating NLS pellets. They did bring on another bout of ich, but treatment is in progress and they are showing improvement. The biggest issue I'm having right now is water changes. I'm doing 60 percent every 3 days right now and because I am using an ro/tap mix, I don't think I'm getting the stability and consistency I would like. Also, I would like to lower the ph just a tad more if I could. They are sitting at about 6.8 now and I would be happy with 6-6.2. They look great though.

I forgot to mention, they now have a tankmate! A 4" green phantom pleco now also calls that tank home. I had him in the big tank, but he wasn't doing too well. The soft water is doing wonders for him. Comes out in the middle of the day to cruise the tank walls and looks really good in the stained water. On another more important note, one of the small pandas is taking this bout of ich real hard. He looks awful. I've been maintaining my treatment and schedule, tank temp is at 87 currently, and hes just not shown any improvement over the last 4 days. His appetite is starting to slow and its got me a bit worried. I clearly have super ich. Like the amazing hulk of small white parasites. I would like to possibly do a salt treatment after my next water change (tomorrow) and see if that helps. I just can't find a firm answer on what the recipe is. Also, I don't know how it will affect my water chemistry. Any answers would be appreciated.

Have you considered turning the heat up higher? Thinking 92... oxygen might become an issue.

I don't think my heater will do 92. It reads about 4 degrees high, and has an auto cutout at 93. Do you happen to know how much salt I should use? I have a bag of sea salt laying around from my days of keeping brackish puffers.

So I started with aquarium salt last night. The general consensus on the amount to use is 1-2 teaspoons per gallon. That works out to about 1.5 cups for my 75 gal. I wasn't able to check if any of my tank parameters had changed after the addition of the salt. I'll do that when I get home tomorrow. I think ive decided to go ahead and buy an RO unit, float valve, auto shutoff valve and rain barrel. The bucket thing is really starting to get old. Another thing i need to sort out is how to push the ph lower without using straight ro water. My ph stays stable at 6.8 using about 10% tap to 90% ro, but i would like that to get a little lower if i could. I also add tannin tea from boiled oak leaves. The tea seems to do absolutely nothing to my ph. Maybe oak leaves aren't the right thing to use? Are all tannins created equally? Should i just forget about adding tannins altogether? or add more? I add about a gallon of tea during each water change. Either way, i dont think im going to be able to spawn these guys unless i nail the water conditions.

ok guys, I need some help now. My littlest panda is completely covered in ich. its getting worse. much much worse. He also has what looks like a white fungus coming off of his pectoral fins and a small clump of it on his head. looks sort of like cotton. I don't think hes going to last much longer at this rate. any of you fish doctors please chime in. Seachem paragaurd, metro, and salt are not working. none of the other pandas are showing any improvement and I don't want to resort to copper.
