What's the difference between a racetrack aquarium and an oval aquarium?

since this thread is already up, what are the dis/advantages of either shape? apart from stuff like ease of viewing and cleaning flat areas of glass, i'm wondering if the straight>sharpish turn>straight, swim pattern of the racetrack is better than the: slight curve>smooth turn>slight curve of the oval? this question concerning relatively constant swimmers like some sharks.
