You can with some cichlids and with adult rays ...but I do not mix them...yes wilds would not be the best for beginners ....lol

In the last pic, your male dovii looks just like my 12" male, only a little paler because of your white sand. But mine is wild caught nicaraguan and yours is costa rican. Both dont seem to possess a lot of blue, while mine is supposed to but doesnt.

Well you say pale but it more yellow for what Costa Ricans are know for ... The nicer species IMO I've owned both and prefer the Ricans he is about 10" right now

The comment wasnt meant to be negative, just a comparison between the two wild caught dovii on how similar they look, ie not a lot of blues.

A darker substrate will also bring out more blues in your Dovii.
