I installed a preformed pond this summer that I bought at Lowes. It holds about 125 gals and is set into the ground. What should I do with it this winter - comp!etely drain it or leave some water in it? I live in Maine, so its going to freeze solid.

Some of the plastic ponds have outward sloping edges such that ice that pops and moves can't put outward horizontal forces on the enclosure. If your pond is like that it's less of an issue. If your pond has straight sides though like a horse trough or similar it might be best to drain it completely.

Thank you. It does have a slight slope. I'll likely bail most of the water out of it just to be safe.
