Wow...looks like a floating sausage! Beaut I must say; Dont mean to sidetrack the topic but are Gars suppose to look that thick? The gars at Bass Pro Shop here are also just as thick.

the setup at least looks cool, but one can bet the big fish were just put in there temporarily for a photo-op...who knows.
the sand motion toward the bottom would simulate something of a fluidized bed, which is cool, but is obviously more for looks here.
the fish is a platinum tropical gar...and as others have pointed out, it's NOT healthy. this is similar to the ones that died a couple years back, one of which we did a necropsy on and found massive fat bodies taking up most of the insides. i'm sure the owner hopes to keep it well fed, but really it's probably overfed/spoiled/just plain unhealthy. this leaves them open to idiopathic death issues and very likely overall shorter life-span.--
