Oscars for sure, and i once trained a gourami to eat out of my hand. i thought that was pretty cool
What is the smartest CA/SA cichlid? In your opinion??

I know they aren't cichlids, but I agree with the above^. Giant gouramis especially are probably the smartest fish I've ever seen. I remember I saw a 2ft+ one at a shop in FL and it was amazing. It would suck air at the top of the tank that would make a noise that would get the shop owners attention whenever it was hungry. And even though they aren't cichlids, they do sort of act like them so I figured they were worth mentioning. Sorry for going off track...

They're not cichlids. You were defining cichlids based on your perception rather than science. A lot of other groups of fish can rival the intellect of cichlids.
