  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hey juan...got a bunch of pics of catches but a bit too lazy to post right now...this past trip down was very good due to the spawn...was averaging some 40 per day, with most from canals south and east of you....east cutler is a good source for the spangled guys and large amounts were taken south of homestead and florida city. If you are looking to meet up with some locals that are hardcore pea fishermen check out the pbass threads here and contact some people...alot of guys local to you:(skim through the salty threads as there are tons of pics of peas in the pbass reports almost daily)

If you need some maps to some places let me know...alot are only 15 min drive from you;) alot of the places we used to fish are so overfished now that we go further south to a few spots that some locals had told me about...that is where we did most of our fishing this past trip....but falls mall and coral reef regional park(aka midas park) still produced well up your way. I dont do much fishing for peas from ponds and lakes down there due to the look of the lake bass, but have fished your lake from up by the baseball field and the 2 parks...also a few above the gunclub on tamiami and north of the airport.....nowadays I look for these guys:D

Thanks for the threads, DM.

I'll check the other spots, when I fish out my backyard lake.:D

If they are on this planet, I'll find them. ;) Heck, I was dropped on a tiny rock somewhere in the Universe and I found this place.:)

Dang! So much fishing to do and so little time, left.:grinyes:

if i lived in FL, the first thing i would do it setup a large outdoor pond in my backyard and stock Pbass. to think i was in FL for 4 yrs of college, and didnt get into the hobby til i came back up to NJ

My brother and I tried doing that in his back yard, about an hours drive South of Orlando, in Lake Wales where he had a half acre pond. The PB did not survive the first Winter.:(

However, He's got some monster large mouths there. That's were I go if I want to catch some netive fish, which is seldom nowadays. I'm happy with the PBs here.

It's possible in Citrus County, about 1 hour North of Tampa, where Spring waters comes out of the ground at a constant 75 degrees year round. I've bought some land there, and we might be building our future Home there in a couple of years.:D

Matt,

the catches are looking good! Looks like you had an extra one of those lures. That lure was killer! Keep those pics coming :)

I found a clone of the lure!

More clones available at fishing section of your local Walmart. They are twitchbaits. The one you lost are sinking ones. They also come in floating models and different colors.:D

Fl. Pbass fishing log 5/30/2006:

Today was not a good day fishing. Early morning showers and overcast skies most of the day. Makes it difficult for sight fishing. I caught two though as shown below::)

Sweet! I found some lures at home that I haven't had luck with. Maybe you might be able to catch something with them down there. I'll send them over soon :)
