Not completely. But Malaysian Trumpet snails do  - and as stated, they also help plants without damaging them. In parts of my tank I have 6'' sand (in the back), and there is not a single rotting spot in there:thumbsup:

Leaves do not regenerate. But your Anubia will grow "forward", leaving the old rhizome including leaves "behind". You can cut them off, but chances are, new leaves will be chewed on as well.

Nice... can you mail order those? None of my LFS's have any...

anubias (nana) can be found very easily over the internet..theyre very hardy and wont die too easily..i used to have 1 and i just ripped off some roots and planted it somewhere else and it still grew

Check your local pet store. Most have them as "cleaning crew" in every tank and are more than happy to fish a few out for you for free (especially if you also purchase a couple of fish). 3-5 are plenty to stock any tank, they reproduce quite well without becoming a nuisance.

its ok to have the plants with pool filter sand also? and would the snails be able to dig down the pool filter sand to the roots of the plants?
