how many gph of filtration should i have for a 55 gallon aquarium? i was thinking 550 gph so the tank is filtered 10 times in an hour. i got 200 gph on my 20 gallon but im thinking about adding another 100-150 gph if the tank isnt clean when i add more fish. the 55 gallon will be housing african cichlids or some texas cichlids with some texas holy rock. :)

10 times per hour should be plenty (assuming you have the proper media)

with the media that comes with the AC filters that should be no problem at all. If you want to make it even better buy some extra biomax and put it in the place of the carbon:)

Your AC110 will be more than enough for a 55. Any other filters you get besides that will just be a bonus.

sounds good im going to stock a bunch of african cichlids in there. can i put texas holey rock in there? i either want to put texas holey rock with africans if i can or some texas cichlids. i love the look of texas holey rock and some artificial plants. does anyone know where to get texas holey rock in columbus ohio?

holey rock will probably cost you a fortune in OH unless you find a good source. In central indiana its pricey as hell!
