I have a chance to but a 155 gal bowfront , but I have not seen it yet and I'm going tomorrow to look at it, the lady is asking $300 for it, I have a few questoins about it and hopefully you guys will be able to help, 1st off is it worth $00 ? secondly she says there is a couple holes in the bottom and I'm guessing this for filtration but have no experiance with that sort of thing (all I have is HOB filters) so are the holes for filtration ? and last but not least it had fish in it at 1 time but the guy who had it before her (was built into wall of house she just bought) swicthed it up to use for a lizard if I buy it I'm going to use it for fish so is there anything special I need to do to have it fish ready ?

Thanks in advance
Bill

reptile waste can break down the tanks silicone sealant so make sure it hold water and is safe to put in your house. i dont know about the holes though im assuming they were for some sort of wet/dry or something

I'm kinda leaning towards not getting it, to many ifs for my liking and I'm to cheap to buy a vrand new set up, I blew it earlier this week and missed out on getting a complete 120 set up all the goodies for $350, I only missed it by a half an hour

Bill, some tanks are made specifically for reptiles. The have thinner glass & cannot hold up with water. These tanks commonly have holes in the lower back with vents installed. If this is a "fish" tank then I would think it a decent price. you can re-seal the tank if needed & patch the holes to use HOB filters.

If you are lucly, then it will still have the 'purpose tag' on it. If you see a sticker with a reptile image then run away & don't look back. if it has no tag then check where the holes are.. If they are a few inches from the botom then follow the above instructions again..

If the holes are in the bottom close to the rear corners then you may have found a gem worth buying (I would)

If and only if you are sure it is a "fish" tank then I say pick it up. Thats a great price for a 155g bow.

They retail for like 7~800 bucks solid & pre-drilled (with over-flows) they are more like a grand ish.. (does she have the overflows? if so, its a fish tank.)

yea it has overflows 1 at each end

Its like a $900 ~ 1000.00 tank. now its up to you...

I wish you the best on this..

I paid $80 for a 46g bow so to me $300 for a 155 is an easy choice.

If you get it, I look forward to seeing it on the site as you set it up....

Does it have the top ???

That would be important to me.. its hard to cut the bow ... "All Glass" may or may not sell a replacement.

I have bought hinges from them, but not glass

buy it is what id say
