i'm wondering if most of you use a quarantine tank for new fish i was thinking that when i get my 55 gallon i could use my old 10 gallon for a quarantine tank and as a tank to let the new small fish gro with out the wery of it geting eaten

yup great idea to quarentine new fish and to help to isolate sick injured fish, or when not in use as a grow out.

i didnt use to quarentine new fish for literally over half the time ive been keeping fish, and it wasnt to about 8 years, a new arrival brought ich to the tank and dimolished all. you dont want that to happen

thanks guys:grinyes:

A quarantine/hospital tank is always a good idea, the hard part is not using it hor another fish or 3.

Whats the question.....i little extra space...a little more time monitoring to keep it up between occupants....much much cheaper than medicating a large tank for something utterly preventable like a parasite infestation.

as for the survival of the fittest comment...captive conditions arent a fair judge of an individuals fittness.... :D

yeah about that....

im going to get one and keep it cycled and ready to go with guppies which i will just feed to whatever fish i feel like when its needed

a 10-20 gallon on hand for qt is a good move. easy to store and priceless if/when an emergency springs.
