Buddy of mine just bought a 6" golden with a blue base that has a chance of being a crossback for $800. I thought it was a deal and would have jumped on it myself but I didn't have $800 to drop...

im curious how much the aros would cost if available in the states.
around here, rtg juvies go for $1000+ and super reds for thousands more.
keeping em should be legalized, its not like just anyone can afford one.

Before the ban, I bought 2 S. formosus (one green/one blue). They were 10" and 8", respectively, and cost me $30 each in San Diego.

Every year this rumor crops up and has been since at least 1998 and I'm guessing it was going around long before it-Anne

No United states officials are going to do anything until studies are done to determine the wild population.And as far as anyone knows theres no plan to do the studies needed.You can partily blame the breeders for not releasing new stock back into the wild.-Anne

I agree with most everything said. Not gonna happen anytime soon. First and foremost, you have to prove they are not endangered in the wild. Authorities don't care about captive population at all. However, we're not going to see wild populations grow without those who can legally breed reintroducing some to the wild. However, due to the blackmarket (and some legal sales) there is no profit in it for them.

Until that point, locate a zoo or aquarium in the US that has them, and go see them there.
