pond pics and questions

hi all
just started cutting the wood to make my pond.
i figure its about 160 or 170 gallons.
everything is just sitting there right now.
still have to beef it up and put the liner in it.
my question is,whats the easiest and cheapest way to filter this?
i just dont get the whole wet dry,or garbage can thing.
any help would be great,thanks

on one of the sides, you can extend it, so it can make a seat.. and under that you can put your filter, there was a cheap and easy DIY wetdry with using plastic draws, or you could make your own with bins or buckets. just make an overflow (search DIY) the fist bucket, the water flows into put some PVC to the bottom so the water has to flow up thru the wool, then have a pipe linking the 2 buckets.. 2nd bucket bio balls or scrubber or something like that.. you can extend the linking pipe and drill holes, like a spray bar. it;s all good AND CHEAP! =)

Why don't you build a small bog next to the main tank? You could fill it partly with bacteria friendly media (lava rock perhaps) and the rest with pea gravel and bog plants. Pump the water up through the bottom and have it spill back into the main tank.

is there any way to get air into a pond without power?
will plants give the amount of air needed for my pond?
i came up with an idea.
make a mini windmill and make it turn a water wheel.
cool idea when the wind is blowing lol

hi, new to the forum.

i would use a fountain to circulate the water. they're basically pumps that uptake water at the bottom of the pond and spit it out in a pretty fountain. petsmart has them. there's a compartment to add a sponge to catch debris.

and barley to keep water clean? pond seems small enough for that to be ok.

stand next to the pond and splash the water with your hand...no power needed. and make sure you have someone as backup incase you need to eat, get exercise, or use the potty.. .

or get a hose and blow air in the water, but make sure its atleast 12" under water for maximum water flow.
