I was at my lfs a while ago and they had a "true Australian" arowana which i know is a leichardti arowna because it had beautiful pink spots all over it.

It was in a tank with two turtles that i have never seen before. the setup was with sand and what looked like to be a coral rock.

my question is, could the arowana have been in a saltwater setup? and if so how long would it last?? I didnt have time to ask anyone there and i should have took pictures with my phone.

They were probably running crushed coral substrate for the turtles. Fly River turtles do much better under hard alkaline conditions.

took the words out of my mouth:grinyes:

the aro was 300$ and at about 8 inches. and the turtles werent for sale. i wish i had the money for it but i ended up getting a jardini

yah, they're beautiful! but definitely not saltwater....just crushed coral. I use crushed coral as my substrate in my freshwater tank

They are not SW fish.

jardinis aint that bad. but with regards to salt water, not possible
