why are catfish going up in price because i got my TSN at like 4" for $18 now for a 2" its $21 and i got 2 RTCs for $40 for the pair now it is the same size of about 4-5" for $44 for one of them it doesnt make sense unless they are not catching as much or something

The main reason is increases in fuel prices. It just plain cost more to ship fish from other countries to the US. Alot more species are being captive bred in the US but, species like TSNs are still wild-caught and the costs in shipping them is constantly on the rise.

Yeah well in the UK fish cost even more so i shouldn't moan i were you. For a RTC here your looking about $55 mate. How much is a ray in the US now, say a nice and basic motoro?

The suppliers are also putting prices up, i don't think fuel is making a difference for you to be honest, your fuels dead cheap compared to us, thats why you've all got V8's lol, it would bleed you dry over here. Suppliers put prices up, so then distributors do and they all have to make a profit.

Some countries will have more expensive export/import taxes now as well as fish become more endangered. Like the Bangaii Cardinal, which is now more numerous in the ornamental trade than in the sea.

motoro costs about from 150-175 for a CB

Over here a motoro is an average of £100, thats $187 lol.

wait arent RTC still wild caught?

I would say that most rtc are wild caught. Some may end up comming from fish farms where they are bred artificially, but the vast majority are wild caught! Either way you go they are still imported as they are not bred in the USA. Kinda like the tsn x rtc hybrid makes it to us from the artificial breeding programs for food fish in SA!
