Need a letter from MFK supplier

I received a XP3 through an eBay auction and wouldn't you know it came in damaged, but the good news it was insured.

I'm filing the freight claim , however the freight company requested a letter from a credible business in the industry on company letterhead, with a contact phone number that states the unit was looked at and it cannot function as intended.



See pics below , two large breaks/cracks in the flange head / motor unit will not allow it to seal properly. I've gone to a local LFS and because I didn't buy the unit from him I couldn't get the letter, even though I've bought quite a few fish from him.



Can someone help me out with this request?

Getting a letter here doesn't help. You should contact the manufacturer and show them the pictures and have them write a letter saying their product wont work properley in tha condition.

Thanks I was hoping to get a reply from an on line retailer that frequents the site. I will take your advice though and contact the manufacturer, however dealing with a large company who knows if and when I will get a response. Customer Service in the U.S. is a relatively unknown commodity today with all the corporate overseas outsourcing currently happening.

Contact ebay, or paypal if that is what you used to pay.
if the seller said that it worked and was not damaged, and it clearly came in damaged at least you can get your money back.

Have a rep. from the freight company (UPS or FedEx?) come over to look at the unit or bring it in to the company. Hook it up to a water filled bucket, have the rep. get close to the filter (so he can get a real good look at the damage,hee hee) and turn it on! When water shoots out everywhere it will be hard for them to deny your claim!

Seriously, your SELLER needs to file the claim, not you. I'm surprised the freight company is even talking to you. Send the filter back to the seller, get your money back, and then it's up to the SELLER to file the claims to get their money back. If you have to do charge back with PayPal then do it, IT IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DEAL WITH THIS! Get thee to the Packing and Shipping board on eBay(http://forums.ebay.com/db1/forum.jspa?forumID=96) and tell them what happened, those people on there deal with this stuff a lot. Listen to them, they will help you out.

For one I can not get ahold of the seller from ebay, 20 emails, 10 phone calls and no call back. I have contacted ebay and have been getting horrible customer service. Ups and Fedex won't work, because the guy shipped the filter via Post Office and had it just in the retail box without a proper shipping container. I contacted Post office and they want pictures of the box, the breaks and a letter from a vaulable store that has checked it and verifys that it will not work in the condition that it is in.

If you can't get ahold of your seller then just do a charge back, that will get their attention.

Yep, the USPS will need to see the packaging, and from what you said about it just being shipped in the retail box then they will deny for improper packing. So the letter and pictures are just time wasted for you.

Besides, even if they did find in your favor guess who the insurance money goes to, YOUR SELLER! That's right, not you because the insurance was purchased by your seller. And the USPS take the filter! So you are out the filter and your money and the seller gets paid twice! Nice, huh! But like I said, no way that will happen because of the poor packing.

eBay customer service is a joke. To get real help go to the discussion boards, those guys and gals are great, they WILL help you. How long ago did this transaction take place? You only have a set amount of time to get your money back.

Quit running around with this, the clock is ticking. File with PayPal to get your money back, if they deny you do a charge back with your credit card company (Please, please only pay for stuff off eBay with a Credit Card, this crap is why.) You can also get your seller booted from eBay because of invalid contact info. If he won't answer his phone for you he probably won't when eBay calls either and he will be shut down so he can't keep pulling stuff like this. He knows darn well that the buyer can't do jack with an insurance claim and is just jerking you around to keep the money.
