I thought Fronts needed african water too. Higher PH and alk. You can keep Brackish fish in a fw tank for so long, but they eventually die. I am sure it is the same for AFircan/SA FW. I am pretty sure Frontosa are Rift lake cichlids, being there are riverine/ Madagascar that are the same as SA per water quality/chemistry.
