is this an eel?

i googled for hours and didnt match it to anything

Hard to tell, take some more pics. Does it have a round body cross section? We have darters around here that are similar to that in body size and coloration. What habitat type was it collected from?

I bet you got it from a tank that LFS keep their ghost shrimp in didnt you? Ive seen darters that are accidently caught up with the shrimp and end up in the tanks that look very similiar to that!

Is its shape kinda round like a cylinder, or kinda laterally flattened like a fire eel?
also can you describe the dorsal fin?

Try to put some gravel or something on the bottom so we can tell the difference of the fish and the tank. It is kinda hard to see cuz it blends together. Maybe a pic of it in your hand would be good.

ok after looking at him more
i think he is a darter.he has a round body.
his fins are clear so i didnt see them at first.2 on top
didnt get him from the store lol
there was a bunch but they were small enuff to get through the net
might go back this weekend for a few more
i took a bunch more pics but they all sucked.
