Scleropages macrocephalus (Silver Asian Arowana)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmmm....we have not seen this particular subspecies here nor do I know of anyone breeding them in MY. One reason might be cause its not as profitable as reds & golds. Green aros themselves are abundant however except for the Nami variety.

Search the web but have been unable to obtains pics. Perhaps the boys in Kalimantan could shed more light on the subject. Actually we do have yellow tails but it's considered 1.5 or 2nd grade reds to us.

I have never heard of this "Scleropages macrocephalus" please enlighten me and others on this i.e. pics and info.

i was under the understanding there was Scleropages Jardini, Leichardti and Formosus then Osteoglossum Biccorhosum and Ferrerai and the finally Hetrotis Niloticus and the Arapaima Gigas.

Its no good

google cant seem to come up with any pic's

No offence but, ......what a load of Toss these people talk about!!! why can't the just be regional variations instead of different species, i think they are looking for ways to make it moe difficult for people i.e. Hobbyists, traders and retailers.
makes me wonder if they have a life outside of fish!!

there are no pics coz this species has just been identified as different from the S. formosus(green and x-back), S. legendrei(reds) and S. aureus(RTG). the silver asians are the greens with lesser green coloration, with a more platinum shine to the borders of the scales. i dont think this type is even recognized by hobbyists in asia as of late since the silvers are just classified as greens in the LFS's.
