My setups are what reels the girls in ;)

My wife knows I am NUTS, my kids all have tanks, my friends that aren't into the hobby will be soon.

People at work come into my office & see 2 Oscars, a JD & a sailfin pleco, usually say something like "DANG ! what do they eat?"

I am quick to reply "Anyone they want!, Go ahead, stick your hand in there, they look hungry."

Anyone that comes to the house can't help but knowing that I keep fish. With a tank in every room, it gives it away. .. (Can I use the restroom? ... Sure, as long as you don't mind being watched..:goldfish: ..)

I have never had anyone that I have shared my interest in the hobby with think that I am weird because of the hobby. They all are quite certain beforehand.

When people find out I keep fish, they stare blank because "I dont look like someone who would keep fish"....just because the music i listen to etc.....
What kind of music you listen to that makes them think that?

I'm in the hobby for the ladies, nothing works better than letting them feed your fish....
oh wait, the tank looks better with the lights off. :naughty:

that is a joke. i'm really not creepy, i promise

12 years ago at least 10.6% of the households in the U.S. owned fish. I personally believe the percentage to be much higher but could not find the data (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fishkeeping) to support my belief. So, if fish keeping has not increased or decreased (yeah right) in popularity in 12 years 1 out of 10 people you see has a fish tank back at their place.

When I tell folks about keeping fish I tell it how it is. Knowledge leads to confidence, confidence leads to respect, respect leads to inquiry, which leads to me setting up another tank in someone else’s house! Ahh, my surrogate fishy children...(I also tend to give them some juvis once their tanks are up a running).

It's like a plague or an epidemic.. now get out there and infect your neighbors, get the fish keepers virus spread.

No one thinks I'm weird because of my aquariums.
People think I'm weird because I'm also into model railroading.

I usually dont flat out tell people that I am obsessed with keeping fish. I sometimes let it slip that I have to clean a fish tank or buy fish food and if they ask about it then I let more out. Some people would think its weird I guess but oh well. A lot of my friends think its cool and they even bought tanks of their own (smaller of course). To each their own I guess
