Homemade biofilter

The crushed coral wont work its too fine.The only problem im haveing is theres a drip at the thread.I even tefloned it.Dont know how to fix this besides to glue it and then i cant get it back open again.Think ill let her drip owe well.The only way i could fix it was to have the other power head pulling water back out this forms a vacume.
 
I think the best way to set a filter like this up is to run an overflow in to one side screw an external pump directly in to the pvc and pull the water out of the filter into a return line like for a canister filter this way it forms a vacume and theres less chance of it leaking.

How about silicone sealer on the threads. Worked for me. Just have to grip it with belt wrenches to open it.
 
Adout the lihjting didnt know what you where talkin about thout you whrere calling me an HOB but yeah there standard bulds that come with the aqaurium exept i put blue bulds in it.I had a shop light over but took it down two 40 watts one blue bulb.

Scrap it or keep it the moderater at the reef lounge thinks i should scrap it but the only problem is i think it works very good.He reccommends i build a sump thats open to the air.Any advise would help .I know it does one thing good and thats water polishing.Crystal clear.Think ill keep it anyway.Just work on the plumping and placement maybey buy an externel pump.

If it works for you, i dont see why you should scrap it.
