Seachem: Stability

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A few instant to semi instant cycle products work.

Seachem Stability is the most readily available one that works but it takes a few days longer then the more expensive products.

I rate them in this order

Superbac (expensive 1 liter = 20 bucks and it cycles about 100 gallons instantly aka I dont see any spikes of anything, make sure it hasn't expired)

Instant Ocean Bio Spira just like the above but only for marina applications

Seachem Stability - It works but slowly compare dot the above (aka cycle is done in a week). It can stress out your fish as you will see some ammonia and some nitrite. I use it with fish less cycling and it does its job perfectly, I just wouldn't use it to cycle a tank with say my Puffer in it since its too slow.

All in all each one is great!

Ok so let me get back to my previous post when i ask for " MORE INPUT " i am actually asking as anyone tried anything else or perhaps anything better ?
The good news is that i did get more "INPUT" from someone and it was not on this forum. So since i got " MORE INPUT" i will share it with you .
I have been using Stability for a week and all i was getting was ammonia and no sign of nitrite at all and since i was cycling my tank i was hoping for nitrite cuz that would of told me i was half way done. after the 7 days of Stability i had none. I would of loved to have the luxury of patience but i dont got that.
So i kept on searching and asking around for some kind of " miracle cycling potion " and i found it .
Now im not claiming this works for everyone but it sure got things going for me and it was pretty cheap in comparison wit Stability anyway this stuff did exactly what i needed it gave me a kick start. so without further due here is the stuff.
No need to hit me with your scepticism This worked for me there is no scientific proof or studies done on my part it just worked FOR ME.

Well I did give you more input but thanks for bashing the forum members.

I used Superbac 4 times all with complete success even with highly sensitive fish such as Rams and Puffers. You can also call a forum vendor Ocean Blue or check the Superbac website. Whole LFS use it to instantly cycle their systems.

I believe your product worked. The mystery over what nitrifiers are needed was solved. The product you posted looks like a knock off made by a company that probably doesn't have to worry about intellectual property rights.

Im very sorry if i made anyone feel like i was bashing forum member that was not my intention. I dont even get how you got that impression maybe it was my tone of typing :)
anyway im sorry about that .
I do appreciate all the "input" i got in this thread maybe i was a bit frustrated because i cannot get Superbac or Bio spora at any LFS here in Montreal.

As for the product i used you are probably right about being a knock off . It was very cheap and made in China :) but since it works very well so i dont mind at all.

So did you use stability, then something else that nobody has heard of, and your positive that the stability didn't do all the work? I think the stability cycled your tank and your chinese knock off managed to get the credit.

If you get a good bottle of stability, shake it before use, and follow dosing instructions, it will work.

Well I'm glad your cycled and up and running! Cost for sure becomes and issue when your working with a larger system. Get some pics up of that setup, I would love to see more.. I'm jealous!

Yes i used stability 7 days and nothing 3 days later i got the chinese knock off after it was recommended by a fellow aquarist who swore by it and used it 2 times with great result .
Do i know for sure the stability did not work NO i dont. did i read the instructions before using YES did i follow the instructions YES. Will i use Stability again probably not. Considering the chinese knock off cost 75% less and it did exactly what the person who recommended said it would.
If i decide that i want to spend good money on a cycling product i will probably order online ahead of time some Superbac or bio spora and try those. But i will most likely go for the knock off and save lots of money that will go toward getting more fishes

I am happy for anyone who as cycled they're tanks with Stability in 7 days that just did not happen for me. Is it because i used already seeded media or because my tank was overstocked for a young colony of BB or was it because i did 20% waterchange daily because i was not comfortable having my ammonia level above 1ppm Its all very possible .

My point was that i needed something fast due to my situation and about 8 hours after using the chinese knock off i had a bacteria nitrifying my ammonia.

So i draw my own conclusion. and my conclusion is that the chinese knock off worked in my tank. Thats all
This said, there was nothing scientific about my experience apart from the testing the water 3 times a day for 10 days

On a side note. I know how to read a label and follow instruction. I also am not a rookie fishkeeper but i am still learning after 10 years
