How "I" Keep My Water Clean...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i think you should always take about 40% of the water every 9 days. what do guys think? to much or to little amount of water

Even in an under stocked tank this is not enough water changed and too far gap of days between changes to maintain nitrates below 20ppm. IMO and experience anyway.

hilarious thread. Theres like 5 mini beefs in here. Good job!

Lol! It is startin' to get pretty epic and I doubt the OP was tryin' to cause such a ruckus when he posted this lol. (or maybe he was? :P)

I say one gallon an hour. Trickle system is the lowest stress for both the fish keeper and the fish. Of course this depends on the size of the tank, stocking, feeding and so on. Larger tanks need more smaller tanks need less

I did a quick calculation using a modified version of my WC calculator. To match a weekly 50% WC average nitrate rate you need to change 100% of the tank every 24 hrs. with a trickle system (~ 3 gallons per hour for a 75G tank). When I get some time I'll double check the numbers.

That's is extreme water changing!! I'm surprise theres no ick...which happened to my tank twice because of too much of the water being changed.

Let's throw some fuel on this fire.

I don't agree with the amount of water being changed but as far as using water straight from the tap, I do the same thing. I've been using unconditioned water for over 5 years and the fish seem fine. I live out in the country though. I'm not sure if the same rules apply with city water?

No more "sack riders"?
