Hey new here and just trying to offer contribution as well. I have a 6" senegal in a 100g tank with a 8" common pleco and the pleco has let a couple of the 6" bala sharks have it when they've bothered him, but he's never had any noticable interaction with my senegal.

Thanks for all the awesome info everyone!

ive kept all mine with a sailfin and common for 3 yrs with no issues.

i have 2 short body Endli's that get chewed on by my big female BN. I have plenty of hiding spots but all she needs is a section of the fish sticking out for her to graze on. this tank is well fed with tilapia, pellet, and spironella(sp.) waffers.

So I want to revise my comments a bit. I introduced two fairly stout ornates to my tank last week (week before?) and my common pleco hates them... And I ascribe that emotion because it really seems like the attacks are more territorial than they are for feeding purposes. The pleco is well fed, but the larger ornate has attempted to co-opt the pleco's favorite hiding place. The pleco will first bump and push the ornate with his nose or body and when he fails at that, he will being sucking on the ornate.

There's still zero interaction between the pleco and either my legacy senegal or the female senegal I added along with the ornates (although the senegal did mistake one of the plecos barbles for bloodworms they were both eating the other day).

As a side note, the ornates are not too fond of my pictus cats. I have two that are probably 6" long. One of them showed an obvious bite on its body and a sredded tail the other morning. So, the ornates are now back in my quarantine tank and I'm trying to decide whether they need to find a new home or if I am going to set up a bichir only tank.

Anyhow, though I'd add my update.

My senegal murdered all my pictus cats and my corys. Would the cats be able to fit into the ortate's mouth? If so that is a little scary considering how stout their dorsal and pectoral spines are.

The cats are too big to fit very far into the ornates mouth. The bite was from a strike from below the cat. There's a clear inverted U shaped bite mark between the ventral fins and the tail. Working on picking up another tank for the ornates tonight or tomorrow so I can get them out of my quarantine tank. Going to do a bichir only tank... Wife's going to crap. Wifes going to kill me... First she'll crap and then she'll kill me... ha ha ha. Sorry, couldn't resist the Fast Times quote!
