Hey there everyone, I have a 55 gallon tank and I used to have 3 piranha. I moved and gave them to my cousin, but I am now in the new house.

I want piranha again, however before I get them again I wanted to know if there was anyway to make them less skittish. That was the only thing I hated about them. They were so skittish when I came around the tank.

How do you guys make your piranha not so skittish?

P.S - I am talking about RBP

larger shoal (also require larger tank) and spend more time with they.

bruner247 gave me some ideas on making p's less shy, try hand feeding them with bloodworms or what ever else your feeding them, so they get use to you, and relize that your feeding them.. Hand feed them everyday, it works!!

Did you use your actual hands or get some tweezers or something?

When they get bigger, i dunno about sticking my hand down in there taha.

Spend a little extra money and buy 3 caribe piranhas. They are a whole lot less skittish and are in season right now. You will be so happy to own caribes. So full of personallity and not skittish at all.

i actually use my hands to feed them, i put my hand in the water with food in it, and the p's eat from it... my fish are like 3"-4". when they get bigger ima start using tongs.

'I wish I would have gotten caribe this time around.. My Last bunch of RBP'S were so much more aggressive then this group ( I had 4 in each group) My last Group would not let anything but maybe a Pleco for a little while live inits tank, This Group will allow fish to live in there with them sometimes for 4 to ive months at a time, I have one tetra that has been in there for 6 Months. So If it were me Id Go caribe.
