Many people that keep amateur fish tanks have come to love the cichlid varieties of fish. They are noted for their huge variety that display interesting and complex behaviors that are fascinating to watch. Discus fish flourish in water with conditions similar to their natural habitat, however many Discus fish are raised in captivity and tolerant of a higher range of water conditions.

Here's the latest view after I added some concentrated blackwater I made up in buckets with peat moss and indian almond leaves in boiling water.

It's not quite this dark irl but it's getting to a nice scotch tone.

Kinbote, this is what truley gave me the idea for my tank :)

keep us updated! :headbang2

Here are the latest shots of the tank; will get some better ones once I can borrow a decent camera.

I've added some black cardboard to block out the light from the back, pulled out a lot of the ambulia and got quite a bit of duckweed which turned up by itself but suits the tank, I think.

Current stock list is 12 rosy tetras, two megalechis thoracata and 8 brochis splendens.

Nice set up. The algae is because of the direct sunlight. I agree that some F1 Festae would look very nice. Look forward to seeing pictures of finished set up and fish selection.
