As most of you know I have a midas pair in a 90.... After about 2 months the female finally laid eggs again... She laid a lot probably 500 eggs but the male only fertalized at most 50... I'm really confused why he only fertalized that many the rest have turned white.... Is it normal for a male too miss so many eggs? I know the remainign ones are fetalized because they have a black dot in the middle.. They have spawned one time before and he fertalized almost all the eggs.... Do yuo guys think anything is wrong with him?

Check the water flow, it might be too strong for the sperm to contact the eggs..............

Honestly be glad he only got 50 or so. If he would have gottem most of the eggs you would have a real problem on your hands. Since you have them in a 90g which is on the small side for breeding pair tank, you would have had alot more waterchanges on your hands. Not to mention culling them if you didn't want 300-500 fry. This way you will have a cleaner tank with the joy of having a family of Midas. The fry also won't get to the point where they are stressing the parents out by eating their slime coat as they would if there was hundreds of them. Not to mention the fewer the fry, the stronger they are because there is less compition for food.
