Young Leucistic Black Aro

Never heard of the term "Leucistic"?

Yup I know but imagine you tell someone that the white fish is a black arowana

They would be like "huh?"

I'm not sure if it just me but I'm seeing shade of blue on the anal fin and the caudal fin. Looks like it went to a white tank treatment then place on a darker tank to take vids. I've done white tank treatment on black aro, silver, jardini and green arowana and they look leutistic overtime. However the fins still show a pale coloration. A true leusitic arowana does not show any shade of color of the regular counter part.

IMO this guy looks like a true leucistic. So far I havent really seen at plat blacks that dont have a shade of color on their fins, usually they seem to have some blue.. Compared to a WTT black, which look more like a pale greyish color.

I've seen true leusistic black aro and no shade of blue on the fins. Also I think someone posted a true plat black aro here. A regular black aro will turn white when place in WTT. Try that with a small juvenile and you might see what I'm talking about.

WAtched the vid again(man that poor aro is beat:screwy:) and I would have to agree, you can see blue and even orange tint in the fins.

Yep that arowan is surely beat. I've seen this to common on Juvenile black aros with the shredded fins. I imported many black aros in the past and many came in with fins like that. Could b none stop fighting. Also many dealers will use WTT to scum would be buyers. Any blue or orange shows on the fins then I for sure will not buy that particular aro. Especially when asking for lots of money.

How come these WTT Black Aros aren't as white?
