You'll love them when you see them. Full color, beautiful photography, updated information, they came out really nice. Petsmart shelled out a pretty penny for that kind of printing for the 1,200 stores but they look so nice. Now if they'd only update the pet care handbook, haha
I just wish that the people who sold fish would educate people a little. That's all. We could have more successful fish keepers in the world if they weren't set up for failure from the start.

i absolutely agree... i was in petsmart and i noticed all the baby pacus they were selling.. they said they required a 30 gal tank... but they ALSO said they grow to 24 inches... someone might not be able to comprehend what they actually mean...then they get themselves the 30 gal tank.. of course the 30 gal is for the moment only... what petsmart should say is they need a 300gal tank at minimum when mature...and they grow to 24 inches.. and forget the tank they need at the size they are when the people buy them..

We (Petsmart) are actually in the process up re-doing all of care guides and animal tags because of this. It's become very apparent that a lot of stores push sales entirely too much based on the misinformation on the tags, which results in customer complaints (and obviously animals that get injured, killed or dumped) rather than employees referring to store policy to not sell animals that are clearly not suited for the customer's level of experience or ability to care properly for the animals.
Hopefully this helps a little bit, since all fish and animals have to be sold with the care guides which now have semi-decent information and the tags have more appropriate information for the customers to rely on. Still going to be a ton of animals sold that shouldn't be, my boss loves selling pacu for small community tanks, for example. *headdesk*

So, what are they going to put for a minimum size for pacus? I don't think they should be available at all in this hobby. I think a 10x3 is still too small for them to be housed properly. They really need to be in ponds. Is petsmart actually going to tell their customers that the three dollar fish is going to require literally thousands of dollars to properly care for in the not-so-distant future? I mean, this is monsterfishkeepers, with over 92k members of people who are dedicated to monster fish, and I have enough fingers to count the number of members that can care for pacus properly. How about if they focus on proper info on oscars and the such, and stop ordering animals that aren't suitable for the general public?
