450 gallon set up reborn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How much does a tank like that cost?I really wish I can find something that big,the largest one I can find is 210 gallon 72x24x29.

Really depends where u live on costs on huge fish tanks. Most cities only sell 230 gallons locally at LFS's. Anything larger then that would have to be custom made which = more money. Where I live now a tank custom made of this size would roughly range from 3500-4000 just for the tank only. Thicker the glass the more expensive it can get.

The largest tank I have seen at a LFS is 500 gallons nothing in it,then there is one that is put up and running is 750 gallon, full of African and Madagascar cichlids at another much cleaner, bigger lfs

Good to see ya back

Oh I thought you meant large tanks for sale. Yes I have seen 1000-2500 gallon display tanks locally here but they aren't for sale.

Good to see ya back

Thanks Brian. Feels good to be back.

I'm having slight issues with my return pump overpowering my overflows...But soon it'll be up and running.

I had a similar problem on one of my setups. I resolves it with a Y splitter. If you installed a Y split (probably with a pressure valve but I don't like to use them because it can strain the pump restricting it's flow) and feed back half the water to the sump it might help out. This way It doesn't apply any pressure to the pump by restricting the flow and half the water just gets double filtered through the sump and it will reduce the amount being fed to the tank giving the overflows some time to catch up.

Here is where I would install it:

Thanks for the advice. I don't like the idea of reducing half the flow back into the tank but I might try that next time for future reference if I end up not liking this setup. Anyhow I fixed the issue by having 2 ball valves on the return line. One is at the pump and one's at the exit nozzle. I reduced it at the exit cause it's pretty far away from the pump so it'll put less stress on it. It's all set up and running. I just started cycling it yesterday. Using additives and some mulm from other friend's established tank/filters. The fish in my sig will be in the tank soon.

Sorry I can't take a different position style picture/shot cuz my garage is so cluttered on the other side. Need to clean and organize it one day hehe.
