Possibly, im judging by the pearling on your fish it doesnt seem to have all that much for either a Texas or Jack Dempsey I found pictures of the Hybrid(JD X Texas)

Yes but when you are judging a hybrid what is the standard ? and those are full grown fish. Have you heard of "The Legend Of Poi".I am just saying juveniles can change.I have seen those pictures about the only ones that came up in a search. Now if you look up juvenile Jack Dempsey pictures you will see not much pearling or some may say spangles on them either.

Hybrids are variable so one hybrid may look different than the same type of hybrid. It does look a lot like texas but just doesnt look right to me. Maybe when it grow larger you can get a positive ID.

I agree again. like I say I have Texas cichlids and have had many Jds . I wouldn,t even have gotton this fish if it didn't puzzle me.I am not saying it going to be a prize but the pictures I take really doesn't show the true beauity of the fish.

Thats a Midas Cichlid

The last thing that fish is, is a Midas. Midas do not have spangling, especially like that. I hope you were kidding. That absolutely flies in the face of you being the only one, ATM, that knows what he's talking about. But it's not a pure JD either. Looks Texas Green.
