I'm on the edge African vs south American

You need a colony of frontosa in order for them to breed...

I have 17 in a group, and they just had eggs... but she swallowed them.

And no, you can't keep 2 in there because they reach 14"

Agreed. But if you like fronts you might be able to keep a somewhat similar looking amphilophus species in that size tank, depending on species.

There are also cichlids that look just like frontosa, but don't reach over 6" I believe... I see them at the pet store I go to all the time, but for the life of me, I can not figure out the name of them.

You could always just get a flowerhorn instead.. that's neither SA/CA or African. lol.

Well I will do some reasearch before I choose

Well, they're hybrid CAs, but yeah call that what you want. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a hybrid fan, but to each their own.

keep the sa cichlids..they get to good sizes and hav a great personality..i prefer them over africans and anyway its better to hav a variation of cichlids..so keep em instead of getting the same old africans

I would like a breeding pair so I can make a little money

You might make a few bucks, but don't count on making anything much more than that. Even if you have a really rare pair of fish, once you breed them and start getting the fry out there, they are no longer as rare. Feel free to send me a PM if you want to talk some uncommon/rare species you might be interested in, it's hard to keep checking back on this thread.
