Fleshy's 125g Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey Thanks! Looks great - enjoyed both vids - 3/28/11 too. Your tusk was just a lil' guy but a tusk none the less, too bad he's gone. Tried lookin' for the Purple tang but musta missed it, just saw a 2-3" Purple Tang @ that fish for $250 - Yikes! Two Part dosing now - wonder what the benifits will be - the elimination of P04 maybe?

awesome angel. What species and how does it do with your corals? Would love to add an angel, just too scared.

Looking good. Your tank is about as loud as mine. Nice selection of fish.

Thanks...the melanarus wrasse is out now and adds some good color.

Thank you for the compliments. I loved my tusk, will get another one someday possibly, but never in a tank less than 180g. That fish deserves some space. The purple is in the last video chasin the tomini around a lil. He should be in both videos actually. I got mine for $80...new it was worth shipping him back from cali, and now that there is another shipping ban it could be awhile before we are seeing them on DD and the such again, prices will go up. Glad I got mine when I did, he is flawless and a beautiful fish. Two part is something that I intend on doing once I get the rest of my SPS in my tank...for now just h2o changes. Keep me updated as to how it works for you.

Its a Pomacanthus navarchus. He has poked at some stuff...only thing he has come close to killing is my plate coral...it is under some acrylic netting, and I am trying to get it to a new owner so that it can grow out and be a cool coral for someone else.

The idea is that once I get the whole tank stocked and some colonies established he can pick here and there without doing any major damage.

Today I picked up a red goni, a rainbow monti, a red/blue blasto, and a war coral...so getting closer with this stocking.

Also going to be getting some aquamags I think they are called. Man made LR with magnets in them so you can put stuff on the sides of your tank...going to use mine for crusters that look cool, but I dont want everywhere. Also going to probably get a few plating montis on them.

Again, cash flow is slow...so so are developments. Hopefully by the end of august I will have all the SPS I want for this tank.

I want pics of the new corals you added.

Well here are the updates from the newest MR CORAL order.

I doubt that I can still recommend them.

Dipped everything in revive...for 5 minutes

Rainbow is brown...have not seen PE yet...fingers crossed.

War coral looks like crap, hopefully it will adjust...and start looking cooler.

Blasto is awesome, but I ordered one with a blue center and they sent me one with a green center. (not worth complaining about, other than that and the fact that some of the skeleton was showing so far its my favorite coral out of the bunch)

Red Goni hasnt done anything since added...but doesnt look dead. Fingers crossed.

Frags are tiny, and my camera sucks.

Our club did a GB with him and I would say there was a 5-6% mortality rate upon arrival. In his defense, its freaking hot here right now, and he made good on his guarantee.

I dont know if the coral was brown when you got it or not, but dipping corals will cause them to brown out. Its happened to me before, but the color has always come back.

We just have to see...I really hope that the rainbow comes around. I havent seen the goni open yet, and it has gotten knocked down twice...I have reason to believe it might be the angel, but havent seen evidence. Tomorrow I will sit and wait for him.

Today I got an aquamag in the mail...so here is what happens when you buy from aquamag.

1. Aquamags are fragile...very easy to work with if you did want to reshape the rock.
2. Completely white, looks pretty foreign in tank...going to get another to kinda hide my powerheads. All in all I will end up with at least three, but ideally now I am thinking that I might try to ask them if they will make custom ones for my koralias to hide in, and the same for my cpr overflow...I think they could do it, its just a question of the price...at that point, my whole tank would basically look "gearless" and that would be pretty neat, I would also want three other ones to grow monti crusters on. I am also considering three more small ones to grow macro algaes on and swap in and out of the sump for the tangs to munch on.

Those are my two ideas for aquamags that the mrsaltwatertank didnt come up with...the hiding gear idea and the tang feeders.

Pretty cool little things. Overpriced IMO...but we will see if I can make one. The magnets themselves on their site are almost as expensive as the magnets with the rocks!

i would switch from revive to coral r/x for dipping. ive used both and corals seem to do better with coral r/x. plus revive doesnt kill aefw and some other pests but coral r/x does. just a thought.

Come across something in That Fish Places monthly catalog that made me think of your "swinging" outlets - Hydor makes a rotating outlet nossel, rather than swinging horizontally like your system this spins clockwise 360 degress on the end of an outlet and is powered by the water flow - basically makes an outlet into a cyclone rather than straight flow - makes waves and increased water circular movement within the tank. Put these baby's on the end of your swingers and you got some real seroius movement.

Interesting, did not know that. Killing AEFW is deffinitely a major issue.

Do they seriously make waves?
