Thai Silk flowerhorn with sa/ca cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
k mshill90 once again doesnt read the post , if u dont consider selling most of the fish in my stock and also the current biggest fish in my stock a change then u have problems because i think selling 7 fish which 4 are my largest fish a change then u need help, also get off my thread because mfk is a place for people who can cooperate and make changes , and u obviously dont realize change, i dont want to seem rude in front of other members but this guy is just a straight up troll who cant give nice advice and he is jsut an aggraveter, and i can take harsh advice but consintently from the same person gets annoying

MISS hill90 knows what she is talking about, and frankly I would trust her advice over a lot of others on here.
As for your thai silk. I have heard they are one of the weaker breeds of FH when it comes to disease so I would not add one.

I wouldn't add a flowerhorn because it's a flowerhorn.

Seriously, I understand getting frustrated with someone who overstocks and asks a lot of questions about why they're having issues with incompatible stock, but you guys are being a bit ridiculous today. Get out of the fish room and go for a walk outside, there's a big world out there.

The important lesson to learn when you're new to fishkeeping is you DO NOT have to have every species you like out there in a tank. It's quite possible to like lots of fish and not keep them right now... Just look forward to keeping them later when you have more space.

oh my stock has no issues and is currently compatible but since i am overstocked i am lessening my stock, and i hear how flowerhorns are mean as hell but i wanted to see if they are compatible with sa/ca cichlids becaus ei didnt want to buy 1 and it kills my stock because i want my stock to be healthy

Seriously, you ought to quit walking the fence with fear of falling off and getting splinters in your ass...and quit trying to play everyones best bud. And it might be a good idea to start reading more than 1 thread by someone if youre going to try and play "community bro". It always helps to know the whole story behind the anger of some peoples posts...and how things develop the way they do.

Give it a rest...Some people NEED to hear how $%^&*!@ ridiculous they are being, how stupid their ideas are, how WRONG their thought process is and how they OUGHT TO START LISTENING TO PEOPLES ADVICE and if they arent going to, then quit posting BS questions like they care.

I for 1 find it refreshing that Im not the only one getting tired of BS questions that have been answered 1000x, lazy people refusing to do any legwork for themselves and its good to see people express the importance of stock issues, tank maintenance and feeding regimes, regardless of the way its done. Sometimes you just have to put your big girl pants on and roll with the answers you get. Its what helps this place grow, change to the plethora of educated members it used to be and weed out the weekend hobbyists.

I mean seriously, have you read some of the answers that are being given in TONS of threads? Its like a 10 yr old sat down with his speak and spell, set it for word jumble and typed it out for his post to answer someones question. We have people that dont know ANYTHING about the basics of fish keeping giving answers like theyve been doing it 20 yrs, and its being taken seriously.

Anyone not speaking up about it and calling others out for the BS will ultimately be responsible for the useless content that it will render here. This place USED to be the #1 most popular place to come to for valid info. It isnt anymore and wont be again if we as members dont do something to minimize the invalid and completely useless responses to LOTS of the new threads.

sorry if u think my question if i could put a flowerhorn in my tank is stupid i have done research on flowerhrons but i have not read any info on if thye are compatible with sa/ca fish and i know each flowerhorn type is has different aggresion levels than another , i just wanted to know if i could get 1 if i lessen my stock

Willing to make changes?? Don't let your mouth write checks they can't cash buddy.

You have too many fish in your tank by far, but you just keep adding more.. the only change you are doing is adding more fish to a tank that needs LESS fish.

I'm not hating you... It's a general hate for all people who PURPOSELY put fish in danger just to appease themselves.

Add that Flowerhorn. Hell, add 5 dovii's.

i'm going to laugh when they kill EVERYTHING in your tank.

Mine wasnt a direct response to your initial question...merely a general answer to the misinformation that is going on forum wide. Weve lost a lot of educated, VERY helpful members because of what amounts to political correctness and overkill of fear of pissing another member off, thats all. It goes from the top down...and no ones any less guilty of it than any other.

While I feel your question was a good one, there are other issues that people have informed you to address first and you are, by removing 5 fish or whatever little amount you are, not really addressing it as has been suggested, therefore you are getting met with ill responses. if youve really read on the topic of your question, you would have found that 95% of members here and internet wide, cant keep flowerhorns as community fish and, in all likely hood, never bothered to ask the question because you would have known the answer.

Or...Maybe you did and you are someone that would use 1 persons advice of saying "yea, that will work" as enough justification to move forward with your stocking choice, I dont know. You seem smart enough to me to figure it out. Just trust your own judgement and have a backup plan for every single day you have a fish tank...then youre prepared no matter what happens.

Haha, yeah because I NEVER say anything that might offend someone on MFK. I don't care to be buddies with anyone, read my post and get out of the fish room bro, there's a big world out there. I know the back story too, I'm on MFK quite a lot, more than you in fact, giving advice. I could probably find something wrong with setups of everyone who is posting here (and mine too), doesn't mean you have to throw a fit about it. If you don't like it, there's an ignore list, period. You're just beating a dead horse at this point. I don't like BayArea's setups any more than any of you do, but going this hard about it isn't going to do anything, except maybe raise your blood pressure. ;)
