Where Palm Trees Grow
I was wondering how long I would be able to keep a 2-3" Armatus in a 55 gallon tank. I will be receiving a 125 in November and I wanted to know if I could keep one until then.

Honestly I doubt it. I purchased a 2-3" armatus a little over a month ago and will have to move him out of his 90 gallon grow out tank in the next 2 weeks. Growth rate is incredibly fast.

there are many factors here... Feeding schedule, water change schedule, current in the tank etc...

I will guess the smallest growth could be 3-4" from now till November. If I were you, I would keep up w/water maintenance to the best you can and get used to feeding him once a week for life since it sounds like the biggest tank you have is a 125.

G/L as it will be a tiny tank for an Armatus

Sorry I forgot to mention the 125 will be a grow out, I would be a fool to keep an Armatus in there for life, Hopefully I will be able to buy a 300g, As I will be able to work in November.

Curious?? Then why waste your cash on a 125? Just keep them in the 55 and use the funds towards a bigger tank (jmop). I have some in a 50gl corner tank right now and they are staying there till they are eating market shrimp or freeze dried krill (which 3 are on now). I'm guessing it will be another month until I get the runts to take non live as the bigger ones are getting moved this coming week

You have a good point, But I'm a bit scared that a foot width would not cut it until I'm able to get the funds, Plus I was getting the 125 for my birthday, Should I just ask for money instead?

Talk to rich from IA he grew one for a year in a 60 g breeder wide for a year and it got huge

That seems rather unwise, I'm surprised Rich would keep an Armatus in such a small tank considering how many large tanks he has, Maybe he was just experimenting?

The point he was trying to make is "it's possible". For life, I think not but a Temp tank is a Temp tank
