I acquired a few texas cichlids a few months back. One i thought was a male, ~ 4" And multiple smaller ones that i am hoping to grow out to get at least one female. I know that sexing visually can be inconclusive sometimes. I have also read that the black on the dorsal fin means its a female, but in some cases males have the black splotch on the dorsal also. So my request is for a vent pic of a texas cichlid in the 4-5" range hopefully more than one so i can compare to what i have for a definite sex ID. Also at what age/size does the black on the dorsal start to show. When i acquired the largest of my texas cichlids it did not have the black splotch on the dorsal, now it does. I will try and get new pictures of the fish and pictures of the vent when i get home from work today.
