5 Jardini Saratoga in one tank.

Thats because there are so many in there. The more you have in one tank the harder it is for the dominant one to start picking individuals off. But at the same time, the more you have in one tan, the bigger your tank needs to be. Unless you're prepared to go way beyond your 8x2x2 then I highly doubt it would work. Don't even think 5 would work. Check out tonymofo's attempt. I think he had like 10 or 12 in a 300 gallon and there was 1 left in the end.

5 Jardinis in a community 250 gallon tank that is crazy. I would save your money. I have kept Jardinis with bigger Silver Arowanas for long periods of time in a tank that size before. Even then you have got to keep an eye on fin nipping.

Bro i no the idea of 5 aros I'n a tank is amazing but also think of this I'n most if not any comm the fish are never perfect. They always nip eachother one or more will be the runt and not grow as fast and as big as the dominate fish. I had this dream but i wanted a flawless Aro no ripped fins ,one getting beat up. It would probly stress u out even if it worked.

Please help before I spend a heap of money. I have placed a order for a 8x2x2 fishtank.
In the same shop they have a tank full of 15cm jardini saratoga and they seem to get along.
My question is if I buy the tank with 5 Jardini how many years will I get out of the tank before they get to large, or what will be a ideal tank to house 5 jardini.
I understand they might fight and this might not work.
Thank you in advance for your help.

The chances of this working are 50/50. This is because there's a good chance that, once you take those Jars out of the tank, their behavior may very well change within the course of a week. Happened to me with a Betta splendens once, and a number of people can attest this with Jars.

Likewise, this setup would work if you went full-on/semi JDM. But then again, that would also command a higher rate/level of maintenance. So its really a decision if you want a lot of fish in a tank where maintenance needs to be done more than once a week, or a few or one fish where the maintenance will be far more forgiving.

I would like to thank everyone for their input. You all have been a great help. As great as it will look it may not be worth the effort and $$$. I will still buy the larger tank and house my Jardini and sooty grunter and hope to set up a Australian native tank.
The sooty and Jardini have been together for 6 months and get along quite well.
Thanks again to everyone for their ideas and concers.

Very nice

A jardini only comm? Jardini and "community" don't go in the same sentence, unless "impossible" is in there too. Its just something that could only RARELY work out, & only with LOTS of trial and error- more work than its worth, probably. And should only be done by an experience ARO keeper. Now keeping a jardini in a comm with other aros (not just jars) can be done very feasibly if you know what your doing.
"impossible" and "RARELY" don't go in the same post. Do you know what are you talking about? There's some members here with 3 or 5 jars comm. What or who is an experience ARO keeper?

Nice! I'm glad you've made up your mind. Australian native tank is a great idea. I'm working on it also.
