sexing is near impossible from these pics. without seeing the vent on a fish that is deformed way beyond the normal body type it is really hard to tell. behavior would be the only other trait to draw a conclusion from but it is far less reliable than venting. my guess is male but that's based on stupid reasoning like it has a big nuchal hump. females can get one. in my mind tho a female usually wouldn't get one that big. see stupid

are shot-bodies infertile

no not all shortbodys are infirtile. infertility is a side effect of hybridization. therefore some shortbodies, which is also a side effect of hybridization but also sometimes inbreeding, are infertile. when dealing with hybridized fish short- bodied or not, there is always potential for infertility especially in males.

whatever he is he is special. i would love to own him. i would consider him a SB flowerhorn, that no one can argue... P.s. this isnt an invitation to argue...lol

but people here are saying its a texas. i am confused is it really a flowerhorn or a texas

he is a flowerhorn. he is beyond being a texas. it is possible, an in my opinion likely, that he is part texas. what percentage of his parentage is up for debate. but surely he is 100% flowerhorn. not trying to be stupid or anything but a flowerhorn is a cichlid made up of many CA cichlids bred for specific traits that have now become synonymous with the flowerhorn. he has flowerhorn traits, yes he may have texas in him but i dosent make him any less of a flowerhorn. the question people pose when guessing is what two fish made my fish. He was probably made by two flowerhorns. one or both may have had a noticeable amount of texas genes
