Water Clarity Issue :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's the Wood bud, I have lots of driftwood and lots of tannins! I use a bit of carbon after its in the tank( takes a few days and it clears) but for the smaller pieces, I did boil them and soak and boil, but the tannins aren't harmful at all to ur fish. The tannins actualluy soften and lower the PH( if that's what you need/want) hope this helps.

Use purigen......

Purigen goes into one of the cannister filters, correct?

I just recently did a media-change/filter clean-up, so it would have to wait a good couple of weeks
I've just read the product info now & it definitely seems worth a try :)

On another note lol, after the comments some of you guys left here, I went to re-look my water.
Well I'll be damned lol, it IS actually crystal clear, just with the obvious tinge.
Funny how I never really looked at it that way before :)

Is there maybe a more in-depth thread regarding tannins, or should I just google it?

i had the same issue and i put some activated carbon in the sump and it cleared right up. I think by the time my carbon was used up, the driftwood stopped leaching tannins and i am once again happy i added the driftwood.
