Am I overstocked?

26 inches.

I have seen in places on here and other sources arowanas can get 5 feet in the wild. However, most people i have seen on this forum are talking about their aros being less then 2 feet. In fact, its not like a 26 inch aro would have trouble turning around in a 24 inch wide tank.

how long have you had your tank setup? how long did it take for your aro to reach 26 inches?

I agree it's ok to keep a 26" fish in a 24" wide tank for a little while, but the arowana is not done growing... What's going to happen when the arowana is 30"+ ..

well, it is starting to sound like i made a mistake when i got the aro.

By no means is this my last tank. I do have other arowanas growing out in other tanks as well. Sure, arowanas grow 1-2" per month their first year of growth. But it slows down drastically at around the 2 foot mark. It has grown maybe 1-2" in 6 months. When my arowana is 30"+ then I will reconsider. But for now i feel my tank is suitable.

I've had my setup for about a year and a half, the arowana is also a year and a half.

Just enjoy your tank and aro's. You will know yourself when they needed more space or not, I'd say when they're around 30". I'm not sure if some of the comments given here were from personal experience of owning the fish or not, probably the latter. Where's bderick? lol

I personally think you're over stocked already. Just get rid of the RTGG and please send it to me. It will fit right in with my fish all being around 7"-9". :)
