Yet another flier update A. centrachus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can enter him in 12 months. He looks good.

Personality wise they're pretty awesome. I haven't been keeping cichlids for that long. These guys are the first pair I've had for an extended time period. They're awesome. Honestly they're members of the family. My wife even calls him, "that noisy fish" because hes always moving stuff around and splashing water etc. I would say he has tons of personality but the fish that was in this tank before him was a piranha (no personality ambush predator) so...

Do you ever get fry from them? If you do i would be more than interested.

They breed infrequently but they haven't raised a batch in a while. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe they need a new tank upgrade. I gave hundreds of fliers and even some nice sub adults that I grew out to tropical fish world before they closed. Don't know where they all are now but I know they sold fast. I think rapps has some from this lineage for sale on his list.

Looking good, Matt!

His mom and dad were both wild "Lago Nicaragua" centrarchus from Rapps (RIP in the aftermath of our fire). The dad was the only glassbanging (!) centrarchus I've ever owned...and was every bit of 8-9" when he passed.

JD Gentry also has a wild pair from the same population...and sometimes has babies available.

Matt

Tropical fish world? The one in gaithersburg closed? I managed to get 4 from there but in my little 29 the dominant male rose hell. I couldn't keep them so I gave them back. They had one huge one in a show tank there. I think that might have been my little male. He was a stunning fish filled with personality.
