can you put a tire in a fish tank?

I see no point in filling the bottom of a tank w/ a bunch of empty bullet shells unless your tryin' to be the 50 cent of fish keeping. Usually you'd want to try to replicate the natural environment a fish lives in in it's natural habitat as opposed to a G-Unit music video. But that's just IMO. I'm sure tons of other people that post pictures of their guns in their avatar, profile pics, and just about anywhere else they can, thought it was mad cool Though. :grinno:

As far as the rubber tire I think it all really comes down to the effect of submerging whatever material it is and if it would let off any chemicals. I'm not too sure on this either but I'd definitely wait until you get a definitive answer from someone that knows there stuff before adding it.
This would be a "natural" look for an urban body of water. Just be sure to add some empty 40 oz. beer bottles and maybe a couple old sneakers in there.

a tire will look cool it will give it a natural look just like in the lakes but I dont think its a good idea due to petroleum and other harmful materials ! Now you can use a plastic tire instead like the ones in kids Big Wheels!!;)

..why do people only read the first post of a thread?..and go and keep posting after the OP has gotten the information they want..and state that they have gotten it...he already understands..he was just asking and go this answer on the first page ..maybe read the thread before posting :P

To the OP:...maybe mix up some concrete and make a mould out of the tire?..than make tire shaped decorations for your tank?^_^..it does sound like a neat idea if they were not real tires.

Concrete?? The PH level will shoot thru the roof....

concrete for a mould...than you make the ornament out of something that will not leach in to the water out of it...
