Detailed gar legality question on possessing and selling gar in Texas?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not exactly all over TX river, there are some part of the upstream trinity river where we never seen a gar! And how did you think that I insinuated that you got the gar from Trinity river?

because you said "or throw them back in the Trinity River".

because you said "or throw them back in the Trinity River".
I said throw them back into Trinity river because there are tons of gator gar in there so the cops won't care if they see you throw a gator gar into the river!

no offense taken. the trinity is a long ways away from me.

As an update to this thread, I talked to a woman from the Austin office of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, she is the head of the Inland Fisheries division. She said that they don't get involved in alligator gar whatsoever. But I know for a fact they do. There was a high profile case of some guys in Beaumont being indicted over four (4) gar being sold to Japan.

Why would a govt. agency care about something being sent over to Japan when they don't lift a finger to protect them stateside?

Also in Harris County, TX, there was an old man in Katy who spent over 2 years in Federal Prison, Fort Worth Medical Center to be exact, for illegally importing orchids (flowers). He didn't even know it was illegal and owned a rinky-dink mom and pop flower store. He was in his 60's, and this was just a few years ago.
