hello all,
the allure of angels is becoming too hard to resist.....

yet with 2 established tanks to maintain and another 125 gallon show tank taking shape in the next month or two, i find myself able to do most of the research required for the next project months and months in advance.
with all that being said. i do have a 40b that i would love to utilize. the depth versus length proportions are pleasing to me (adversely i find a long tank and thin tank exceptional as well. explains the 125 and 33 gallon
)
and the questions...
would a 40b have a less than desireable footprint with regard to 2 adult pairs and other fish of similar size?
and what filtration has worked well with these finned friends?
i have been planning on 2 fx5's on my 125 gallon along with a sump, mag 18, and spray bars for my oscar, jag, and some cichla mono.
a very different approach from what i have been reading in regard to angels.
the layout for the 40b would be standard branchy driftwood or manazita; planted with misc. flora. fluorite base and possible a small gravel or playsand above.
my idea on filtration (which i think i'm crazy for saying this) would be a plumbed fluval 404, all bio media and an ac110, stock media. ppl will think i'm raising corals...

lighting will be 36" aquaticlife, no top.
initial stock would be strictly plants along with a school of tetras of some kind. the future would hold angels, a juvi green sev, maybe a discus or two, and get loose with the corydoras.
i understand the nature of pairing. I would start with 8 juvi's, cross my fingers that i get two pairs, and would find homes for those who can't take commitment. black veils and koi
TL;DR
40b and filtration on that tank, or filtration in general
ANY THOUGHTS!
