ID ahli or fryeri

I want to get fryeri but can't seem find a way to positively ID them from ahli. My only reason is the smaller size. Anybody have input?

True ahlis are very very uncommon so I think you are safe.

I agree, the true Ahli would resemble a female fryeri in color more than the more common "electric blue", males being more tan in color, with an irridescent blue shimmer to them. I've only ever seen 2, and they were both owned by the same person

no offense-but you guys seem lost!Blue Ahli is just the common name for S.fryeri,and there are many variations for this common hap.

We are aware it is a common name, but there is a Sciaenochromis ahli which is a real fish. It is not found in the hobby for the most part. People fear mixing the two.

Two different species. True blue ahli are less colorful and not imported.
