I purchased this fish a few weeks ago from a LFS. I was told it was a Geophagus(SP) but I am unsure what kind. It is housed in a 75 Gallon with a male GT and a Jack Dempsey. Any info on this will be appreciated.

Well, Gymnogeophagus gymnogenys species are harem breeders and social fish, so they are probably happier in a group. They like finer substrates than what you have in your tank. The JD and GT will most likely grow too aggressive for your Gymnogeophagus. They may also prefer different water parameters, although the water in Uruguay is not as soft and acidic as in the Amazon....

Not saying it's the end of the world, but in general we should know more about the fish before buying them. Very often LFS staff are not exactly trustworthy...

Just wanted to add that to my knowledge there's no such thing as a non "pure" geo as they don't hybridize. I assume the same for gymnos. Any SA guys want to chime in on that?

I think it is a gymnogeophagus labiatus. Looks just like mine.

Haven't heard of Geophagus hybrid, but I'm not too sure about Gymnogeophagus. The classification itself is still a working process...

+1 for G. labiatus. These are mild mannered fish and probably won't be the best choice for your tank

Yep...the stripy tail...

I would not keep it with GT and JD. Don't mean to be rude but you should have done some homework before purchasing this fish.

I don't think you were rude....sometimes these things have to be said imo to better the hobby. It's a great looking fish but is totally out of place in that setup. Maybe OP has another tank for him. :)
