I wa just reading another thread about water conditions and noticed that most of the responses was saying their Ph was in the 6's .

I know it can be droped by driftwood but would that be a permanant fix or would the driftwood eventually stop working and eventually I'd have to buy more ?

I know Peat will drop my Ph but I am unsure how much and how often I would have to add it ( not fond of the discoloration that occurs when peat is add lol )

Chemical way ? I have seen Ph increasers and decreasers but have never used them so would this be the safest most controled way of lowering the Ph ?

Seriously guys please advise, I am setting up a tank for some rio meta orino's ( haven't ordered yet but going to soon so they aren't all sold out I really don't want to miss out and have to wait till next year !!!) and I want everything to go perfect, they have been a dream of mine to own ever since I saw the video's of Jcardona's 405 gallon

I have done ATON of reading about peacock bass and I have learned alot but any tips about anything P bass related anyone can give me from personal experience I would be very greatful

I would be getting the orino's from snookin21 they would be 2" and I don't think they are off live yet but I wanted to know of any place online or some where around St. Louis, Mo that sells feeder guppies ? the best LFS in town burned a couple years ago and haven't been able to find any since . I normally don't like to feed feeders but at such a small size I do not want to starve them not until they get bigger and get some weight on them .

Their is several petsmart's with in 40 miles or so but they only carry rosie reds and they are 2"+ ....

My Ph is right around this and my bass have gotten used to it my water for sure more important is consistancy week in week out the same water crisp clean in my 675 i use over 200 pounds of wood still does not drop ph that much but for sure adds vitimens minerals naturally very good for fish in my book Like i say consistancy is Key ...Hugh...

Oh That is awesome!!! Thanks so much Hugh ! so they shoiuld be kool with my Ph then and just when they aririve just slowly acclimate them with a slow drip ?

I think I am getting the Cichla Craze its seems evertime I turn around I find myself surfing on you tube and watching all D macks vids, and Jcardona's pretty much if their is a P bass vid on there I havfe watched it LOL

Trieing to think of a live food source that I can order , I have been looking online for feeder guppies but no luck, think small crickets would work ? small red wiggler worms ? I have been thinking about getting a bunch of female guppies and a few males and use their babies as feeders but they will be getting here before they guppies could reproduce . Any Ideas ?

Nice man !!!! as far as live i use goldies just feed well a couple weeks before serving them as food I also grow my own have breeding pair of texas that spawn every couple weeks ...
