Black or Silver Arowana..?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dayak, not sure why you felt you needed to further derail this thread. The last thing anyone needs is information from you, especially 4 times:duh: whats up with that? Just because you are lucky in your short time raising arowana doesn't mean it's a very smart way for anyone else to attempt. For your one time getting lucky there are many other arowana lost for being raised "your" way.

sorry for derailing this thread again a little with your derailing SPEECH.
i had to respond to your comment since you mentioned my name in negative way, and no its not lucky..it is because i use my common senses not generic advice you love to sing such as OMFG your tank is way too small and alike like that.
its not one but 2 attempts, not to mentioned i am one of those what you call "lucky" despite my effort to be able to put 2 different size arowana in the same tank with no real harm done.
are you making another prediction out of thin air again thats alot of arowana died raised my way, like you did telling me my fish my will die because ammonia that gshack saying in almost every post about me that he holds like bible phrase to go against me, despite i told you theres no ammo detected according to the parameter reading?
i agree that i raise my arowana still short time compare to you perhaps, you keep arowana on your join date like me? but i seem to know much better about fish and its behaviour..

To the OP sorry your thread got derailed, your going to see many different opinions here on MFK. However I will stand behind mine and try to dispel any of the bad info posted. You asked to see pics so I'll show you a video of my tank, the two larger aros are 29" silver aro and the two smaller are 27" black aro

Yet another thread with a Dayak conflict.
Don't you see a pattern arising Dayak?

@OP, I love my Black, they are nice when they get bigger. (nice when they are small too)
The no drop eye thing is a bonus too.

Here is mine:

a black...well i've never seen a 2' one in domestic aquaria in over 35 years but they do grow larger than this.Wild specimens of both species do attain larger sizes due to there been no unnatural restrictions, ie water quality issues and of course no space limitations.
Having kept pretty much all species of Arowana my choice between these two would be a black. They still attain a large size but a little more sensible, rarely do you see a black with drop eye,the colouration in the fins(sky blue with a yellow fringe) is so attractive and they generally have a more peaceful disposition than many silvers.
All in all blacks are worth the extra cash imo.QUOTE]

I agree with all of this except my black is 2 feet right now. I chose a black because they don't get as big as silvers, drop eye is rare, they look awesome, and mine is very friendly. Blacks are more expensive but worth it!

what pattern r u talking about be more specific plz so we tackle it precise.
the OP asked between the 2 and i explained the 2 told my opinion between the 2 heck even i told him silver tend to get DE but they do have better color than black when properly raised and cared when they grown up, i like the black color when they r juvies and i do not dig their color on full grown, since you post the black aro pic i shall post my silver for comparison and have both angle looked at.
